The Youth Group  presents HOLLYWOOD HELL HOUSE, written by the Abundant Life Christian Center, with direction by Jill Soloway and Maggie Rose (actors) and Amit Itelman (the Hell House).  HOLLYWOOD HELL HOUSE will be produced by Jill Soloway, Maggie Rowe, Amit Itelman and Becky Thyre.  HOLLYWOOD HELL HOUSE, a walk-through theatre experience will open on Friday, August 27 and continue through an extra-spooky Halloween performance on Sunday, October 31, at the brand new STEVE ALLEN THEATER, 4773 Hollywood Blvd. in Hollywood at the Center for Inquiry-West.

Every detail of this production of HOLLYWOOD HELL HOUSE including the script, the staging, the costumes, and music is done according to the instructions of the official "Hell House" kit. This production is performed with the permission of the HELL HOUSE creators  The Abundant Life Christian Center.

The scariest haunted house in the country with a frightening eight room journey into Hell.  Witness a bloody abortion.  Be caught in a school shooting.  Get front row seats to a gang rape.  And then, descend into Hell!

The earliest hell house appears to have been created by Rev. Jerry Falwell in the late 1970's. The concept was picked up in 1992 by Keenan Roberts.  His first Hell House was in Roswell, NM as part of a teenage outreach program and was advertised as a Christian alternative to haunted houses, HELL HOUSE portrayed the devastation and destruction that sin causes. Since then, he has become a pastor of the Abundant Life Church in Arvada, CO and sells "Hell House Outreach" kits to other churches. Included is a 263 page manual which covers everything from casting to publicity to instructions on how to make hamburger meat look like a fetus and where to store vats of blood .

Roberts has received international attention through an appearance on the Phil Donahue Show, and reports in the London Times, MS Magazine, New York Times, and Newsweek Magazine.  He told the Denver Post he designed Hell Houses to "show young people that they can go to hell for abortion, adultery, homosexuality, drinking and other things unless they repent and end the behavior."  In his first three years of business, Roberts sold 300 kits and had 20,000 guests. Since then there have been approximately 3,000 Hell Houses across the country.

HOLLYWOOD HELL HOUSE is not in any way an indictment of religion, Christianity, or the Bible.  Its purpose is to demonstrate the absurdity of a literal interpretation of the Bible, specifically the belief in a literal everlasting Hell.

Richard Belzer  legendary comic, series regular NBC drama Law and Order; Bill Maher  HBO's Reel Time with Bill Maher;  Andy Richter Late Night with Conan O'Brien, sitcom Andy Richter Controls the Universe;  Dave Thomas  SCTV;  Dana Gould co-executive producer of The Simpsons; Susie Bright – erotica author/peformance art icon; Traci Lords – film Cry Baby, author of Traci Lords-Underneath it All;  Patton Oswalt – comic – currently series regular CBS sitcom King of Queens;  David Cross – HBO’s Mr. Show with Bob and Dave, currently series regular Fox’s Arrested Development;  Emo Phillips – legendary comic;  Julia Sweeney – Saturday Night Live, author and performer, Letting Go of God;  Sarah Silverman – comic, film School of Rock;  Mary Lynn Rajskub – film Punch Drunk Love, currently series regular Fox Drama 24;  Matt Walsh  Comedy Central's Upright Citizen's Brigade; Justina Machado  series regular HBO's Six Feet Under;  Rainn Wilson series regular HBOs Six Feet Under; Craig Bierko series regular CSI,  among many others scheduled to appear.

Producer/Director Maggie Rowe wrote this year on Oxygen’s new comedy Good Girls Don’t and was a commentator for NPR’s All Thing Considered.  As an actress she has appeared on several sitcoms including My Wife and Kids, Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place, The Geena Davis Show, and What About Joan?  She co-produces the hit stage show “Sit’nSpin” with Jill Soloway, and, with Jill Soloway, has written an indie film comedy called “A Sweet Story.”

Producer/Director Jill Soloway, is a writer and Supervising Producer on "Six Feet Under".  She was co-creator of  "The Real Live Brady Bunch" and "The Miss Vagina Pageant."   She wrote the short story "Courteney Cox's Asshole" which was published in Best American Erotica, and has written a collection of essays entitled “Why Jews Go to the Bathroom with the Door Open” as well as a novella called “Jodi K,” both of which will be published by Simon and Schuster in 2005. She also produces a bi-weekly night of comedic monologues and music called "Sit n Spin", which currently runs at the Comedy Central Workspace at the Hudson Theatre in Los Angeles and co-wrote the indie comedy film “A Sweet Story” with Maggie Rowe.

Producer/ Director Amit Itelman was the producer/director of "Colin's Sleazy Friends- Live"; guests included Cypress Hill, Anthrax, Motorhead, Ron Jeremy, Kathy Griffin, and many more. He is the co- Writer/Producer of the award winning short "Timmy's Wish" which has appeared in 30 film festivals, aired on the Film Festival Channel, received five stars from Film Threat Magazine and was featured in the 2002 Ozzfest tour. Amit directed "The Temp" at the Comedy Central Stage. He is currently the Artistic Director of the Steve Allen Theater.

Producer Becky Thyre is an actress and sometimes writer.  She has appeared in the movies P.C.U.,  The Flintstones, and Run Ronnie Run.  She’s been seen on television in She TV, Mr. Show, Curb Your Enthusiam, Just Shoot Me, The Oblongs, Rugrats, Arrested Development, My Wife and Kids, and Six Feet Under.  She played “Marcia Brady” in the stage show The Real Live Brady Bunch and was “Miss Trinidad” and “Tobago” in the play The Miss Vagina Pageant.  Becky is a favorite performer at sit’nspin.

HOLLYWOOD HELL HOUSE will open on Friday, August 27^th and continue through Sunday, October 31^st (Halloween) at the brand new STEVE ALLEN THEATER, 4773 Hollywood Blvd. in Hollywood at the Center for Inquiry-West.  Performances will be Friday and Saturday evenings (with one Sunday performance on October 31^st) at 8:00pm.  Tours through HOLLYWOOD HELL HOUSE begin at 8:00pm with the final group admitted at 10:30pm.  At 11:00pm, there will be a performance by the Heavy Metal Band - STIGMETA.  For ticket reservations, please call 323/692-5868.
